Method For Selecting Evaporator Models For Cold Room

Cold room evaporator is an indispensable heat exchange equipment in refrigeration systems. Its main function is to allow low-temperature and low-pressure refrigerants to absorb heat inside the storage and evaporate into a gaseous state, thereby reducing the internal temperature of the cold room and achieving refrigeration effect.

According to their structural form and applicable scenarios, common evaporators can be divided into two categories: exhaust pipe type and air cooler type. Exhaust pipe type evaporators have stable heat transfer and slow frosting speed, making them suitable for storing goods with low temperature fluctuation requirements and reducing dry consumption of goods; The cold air fan evaporator has higher heat transfer efficiency and faster cooling speed. By forcing air circulation through the fan, the temperature distribution inside the warehouse can be more uniform. However, it is easy to accelerate the loss of moisture in the goods and needs to be used in conjunction with reasonable moisturizing measures. During use, the evaporator needs to be defrosted regularly to avoid excessive frost layer hindering heat exchange, resulting in decreased refrigeration efficiency, increased energy consumption, and affecting the stable operation of the cold room.

How to choose the type of evaporator for cold room

Firstly, the heat exchange demand should be determined based on the actual volume and design temperature of the cold room, and matched with the corresponding heat exchange area of the product. If the heat exchange area is insufficient, it cannot achieve the preset cooling effect, and if it is too large, it will cause waste of equipment and energy consumption.

Secondly, it is necessary to adapt the evaporator type according to the type of stored goods. If storing meat, seafood, and other goods that require long-term storage and high requirements for dry consumption control, priority should be given to using a tube evaporator; If storing fruits and vegetables, fast-moving consumer goods, or turnover type cold storage that requires rapid cooling and fast loading and unloading, a cold air evaporator is a better choice. It is also necessary to choose an appropriate installation form based on the installation space and on-site layout of the cold room, fully utilizing the space inside the warehouse while avoiding affecting the stacking of goods and air circulation.

Finally, it is necessary to determine the model parameters based on the working conditions and usage environment of the refrigeration unit in the cold room. It is necessary to ensure that the evaporation temperature and heat transfer capacity of the evaporator match the working parameters of the compressor and condenser, in order to avoid a decrease in refrigeration efficiency and a shortened equipment life caused by a mismatch in the overall operating conditions of the unit. If it is a low-temperature cold room, it is also necessary to prioritize selecting the corresponding model that is suitable for defrosting design, to ensure that the evaporator can defrost regularly and normally in low-temperature environments, and to maintain stable operation of the cold room.

Cold room evaporator temperature type

Generally, according to the design temperature of the cold storage, suitable cold room evaporators can be divided into three categories: high temperature, medium temperature, and low temperature.

High temperature evaporators are designed for cold room with temperatures ranging from 0 ℃ to 10 ℃, and are commonly used for storing fruits, vegetables, and fresh goods. These evaporators are matched with corresponding heat exchange requirements and can work stably in a high evaporation temperature range to maintain the storage environment inside the warehouse; The medium temperature evaporator is suitable for cold room with a design temperature of -18 ℃~0 ℃, mainly used for short-term storage of meat and frozen products, and is suitable for the working conditions of ordinary frozen cold room; Low temperature evaporators are suitable for cold room with temperatures ranging from -25 ℃ to -18 ℃, and even lower temperatures. They are mostly used for long-term storage of frozen goods and frozen products. These evaporators are equipped with defrosting designs that are suitable for low-temperature environments, which can cope with scenarios where the evaporator frosting is faster and thicker in low-temperature environments, ensuring stable refrigeration.

In addition to the core dimensions mentioned above, when choosing a model, it is also necessary to pay attention to the material matching of the evaporator: if it is a cold storage that stores corrosive goods or is used in high salt spray environments along the coast, priority should be given to selecting the corresponding model made of steel or stainless steel with anti-corrosion treatment to avoid premature corrosion and damage to the equipment and extend the service life of the evaporator.
